ANN: My name is Ann Stepetin. I grew up in Angoon, Alaska, on Admiralty Island. I’ve been living in Juneau since 2000. Moving here, I started out working with Greens Creek [Mine], and then worked for GCI for ten years, and then for Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium for a couple years. And now I’m with the Tribe working with our Elders program [at Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska].

“Having my grandparents in my life everyday was a huge foundation of my life.”

MARTIN: I’m from St. Paul Island, Alaska, which is about 1200 miles away from Juneau, far away. Both my parents are from St. Paul Island, and I grew up there. I’m full Aleut. I moved here to Juneau in 2011. I came here for a two-week trip, and that’s when I originally met my wife Ann.

“I love this community… there’s really passionate people, a really loving community that I think takes care of its own to the best of its ability.”
