JEAN: I’m Jean Overstreet. I live on Douglas Island. Things have certainly changed over the years. We [my husband Bill and I] came to Juneau in June of 1952. Coming from Oklahoma, from the middle of the U.S., it was a large cultural shock for me. I went to work for the Coast Guard and stayed with them for 32 years.

MICHAEL: I am Michael Fleischhauer. I was born in Washington state. My parents moved up here when I was nine years old and brought me with them.

“[Bill Overstreet] thought,‘If we could do something really special for Juneau that would be great’.”
