Bill McPhee

My name is Bill McPhee. I was born in Wrangell and I grew up in Telegraph Creek, right on the Stikine River. I used to run dog teams when I was a kid, running 50 miles north of Telegraph Creek to hunt. We had dogs for transportation in winter and horses in summer. I’m 78 years old now. I went to high school at Dawson Creek and later on went down to Wyoming. I was drafted and went to Vietnam in 1965. When I came back I moved to Alaska and lived in Fairbanks most of that time. When I moved back to Canada, believe it or not, I ended up being the Chief for the Tahltans. I’m a former Chief.

We really depended on our fish. And we still do, we love our fish.
