Frank Young Jr.jpg

My name is Frank Young. I was born in 1939, October 28 in Craig, Alaska. I’m one of six, five sisters and me. Five of us kids were born right there in our living room: there were no hospitals around Craig at that time, only midwives. We moved to Wrangell in 1947. Our mom thought we’d be better off near a hospital and whatnot. I’ve been here ever since. I started fishing with my dad when I was ten years old, and fished for many years. My dad was a barber, fisherman, and trapper: kind of a jack of all trades. My dad was Frank Young, Sr. and my mother’s name was Ruby.

It was a joy just to be out there… it was just a thrill to put the net in the water and catch fish. I never got rich, but I got well educated.
